pshal my first funicular! i actually wasn't expecting to see one so soon. apparently this is how they get people into the resort from the bottom of the hill rather than having cars constantly traveling up what could be a potentially dangerous driving route. smart! it's like a vertical train with three little cars, each car has a wooden bench seat in it. they said it'll hold about thirty at a time so i'm not sure what they do if there's an emergency! #thefuninfunicular #burgenstockresort #switzerland

pshal spending my first day in old lucerne. this is chapel bridge. i really wish i could have gotten a panoramic shot because this doesn't do the view justice. check out the city in the background though! it's so quaint and i found the perfect spot to have lunch. if you come, be sure to check out wirsthaus galliker. i got the lamb entrecote with cream noodles, delicious! #luzern #chapelbridge #pubfoodftw

pshal room tour today! i was lucky enough to get put in one of the one bedroom suites at the burgenstock hotel here at the resort. there are a few different places to stay that are part of the resort and the burgenstock is the oldest and most well known. the room was beautiful and each room here has a lake view. i adored the rock walls, the pine trunk desk, the seperately enclosed toilet area, and the large bed. super comfortable. five stars, definitely. #burgenstock #switzerland

pshal today i went on the rigi round trip. this consisted of a cruise across the lake, two different railcar rides, an aerial cable car up mount rigi and back down again, then another boat ride back to lucerne. it's a fantastic way to get to see the alps. please, if you come in january like i did, be sure that you dress warmly! one of the trains was cozy but the other was a bit on the cold side. and the trips across the lake can be very windy depending on how full the boat is. is this not a gorgeous view though!? the fog over the lake was incredible. #mountrigi #lakelucerne

pshal dinner at one of the two restaurants inside the burgenstock hotel. i was grateful that they were willing to work with me on getting a sample platter to try a number of the different entrees. spices serves a variety of oriental cuisine from many different locales. the tofu dim sum was delicious! #spices #burgenstock #somuchgoodfood

pshal today was pampering day for me. the burgenstock offers a wide variety of spa treatments along with having two of the most gorgeous infinity pools i've ever seen. the water is kept warm all year round so don't be afraid to go for a soak when it's feeling a little icy outside. #facialsandmassages #burgenstock

pshal my second trip to mill'feuille on the reuss river. their breakfasts are to die for. they have a wide variety of wonderful pastries but their waffle with hot chocolate cherries is probably one of the best things i've ever eaten. and then there's this beautiful egg souffle. if i'm not careful, they may have to roll me out of here! #bestteainswitzerland #eggssolightitshouldbeillegal

pshal it was delayed but i finally made it! this, my dears, is the stoosbahn funicular railroad. it is the steepest funicular in the world and rides up an incline that is close to 85 degrees, a damn near right angle. clearly this funicular is completely different from the one that takes you in and out of the burgenstock. the shape is less like a traditional railcar and more like an amusement park ride. i very much enjoyed this. it was exactly what i hoped it would be and if you ever find your way near stoos in switzerland, please give it a ride! #stoosbahn #funinfunicular #switzerland

pshal while in schwyz, i couldn't help but check out kloster einsiedeln. this is the catholic monestary that is home to the famed black madonna statue. the building itself had the typical gothic vibe and drew quite the crowd. #einsiedeln #switzerland

pshal rathaus brauerei was the dinner option tonight. as i'm currently unable to drink, it might not have been the best choice. but the atmosphere was amazing and all of the brewing equipment gave it a somewhat steampunk vibe. #nobeerforme #switzerland

pshal leave it to me to wait until the last minute to show you what i'm sure you've all been waiting for. this is the burgenstock resort overlooking lake lucerne. the modern building fits almost seemlessly into it's surroundings. i've been floored by this place, this view all week. i would definitely come here again and am curious to see how pretty it is when the alps are in full bloom. #swissalps #lakelucerne #burgenstockresort
